The Leeds AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologists) Student Chapter is part of the world’s largest professional geological society. The chapter began two years ago and is now the second largest UK chapter (following Aberdeen) which is continuing to grow and develop.

Founded in 1917, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists is currently the world's largest professional geological society. The membership of AAPG includes geologists, geophysicists, CEOs, managers, consultants, students and academicians. The purpose of the organization is to foster scientific research, advance the science of geology, promote technology and inspire high professional conduct.

The student chapter here at Leeds are creating link between the petroleum industry and research and the students. We run a series of seminars through the academic year from a verity of research areas and industry as well as visits to local companies and fieldtrips.
