The aim of the chapter is to improve the employability of students at the University of Leeds within the Mining and exploration sector. The Chapter was established in 2010, and has rapidly expanded to its current membership of around fifty.

Events:
Saturday 2nd March: Leicester’s
Student Chapter Annual Symposium The day will feature a range of talks by
international speakers, and interactive, topical workshops. Confirmed
speakers include Richard Scrivener (Wolf Minerals), Ian Cope (ArcelorMittal) and Andrew Bloodworth
(BGS). This is a great event to learn about a very
relevant topic within the industry, meet others from different chapters
around the UK and possibly representatives from the industry, and it is great

March 5-7pm:
Employability Talk and Chapter AGM
This year’s Employability and AGM
will be held on the 11th of March from 5-7pm in the SEE seminar
rooms behind reception and it is an event we expect everyone to
make an effort to go to. You will get the chance hear advice on future
careers in mining and mineral exploration. We hope to share some experiences
from recent alumni to give you a taster of what is possible when you
graduate. This event will be run alongside the AGM
where there will be a summary of the year’s events and it gives you a chance
to make suggestions for how the chapter can be improved. It is also when the
new committee will be selected. Tuesday 16th April: Toro Gold
Talk Mark Horgan,
CEO of Toro Gold will be coming to Leeds to give a talk which will
be followed by a ‘Gold and Precious metals’
display. This will be held in the school’s seminar
room behind reception. September:
